PUDHUGAI FM 91.2 COMMUNITY RADIO STATION
( Run by TNSRO )
Life Member in Community Radio Association,New Delhi

TamilNadu Scientific Research Organisation (TNSRO) has a long journey  of making innumerable contributions in the field of science and technology since 1997. But the community lying in the immediate vicinity of the villages remains untouched by these developments. Realizing the potential of Community Radio in establishing links with the remote villages and communities, TNSRO launched its own radio Pudhugai FM 91.2 MHz on 23rd  Feb 2021 (Pudhugai, short form of Pudukkottai).  The intended audience is the people within and outside the villages. The coverage area is 15 km radius around the campus. Staffed by members of the local community, the programming provides a platform of expression to communities to learn, discuss, and debate important local issues and help determine truth and accuracy of information.

Community radio is one of the fastest growing media of social communication, our Pudhugai FM 91.2 is a short-range radio station owned, run and maintained by TNSRO. It is not a normal FM or a commercial radio. The focus of our Community radio is on the informative programs often socially motivated. The purpose of this radio is to give voice to the unheard voices of communities that otherwise go unnoticed. There are more number of CRs operating in India today. We are proud to say that our Pudhugai community radio is one of them.

The aim of the radio is giving voices to the unheard voices of people and democratizing communication on a community scale. Pudhugai FM 91.2 Community radio, although taking on diverse forms depending on its societal environment, remains a type of radio made to serve people; radio that encourages expression, participation and those values of local culture with tradition. Its special motto is to reach out to the remotest areas far from large urban centers, where the population is too small to attract commercial or large-scale State radio.
